Leaders from across the drinks industry were at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London’s Portland Place as businesses came together to recognise the work the industry has done to make a positive impact to sustainability in the On Trade drinks sector.
Organisations large and small enter the Drinks Sustainability Awards on an equal footing – and apart from being stakeholders in this industry, the key thing they have in common is a desire to do the right thing when it comes to the sustainability of the environment in which they operate.
With the pressures of inflation and the cost of living crisis on everyone’s mind, consumers are re-evaluating the way they spend their money and are more aware than ever of the impact the brands they use have on the world around them. Meanwhile the industry itself battles against rocketing energy costs and food prices, increased alcohol tax and premises rents, all against a background of covid recovery.
The UK drinks industry has risen to this challenge, and guests heard of the innovative ways in which businesses of all sizes are leading the way in sustainable ways of operating.
Now in its fifth year, this annual awards is the barometer for sustainability and responsible business practice for the drinks industry. The awards are open to drinks businesses, suppliers and stakeholders of all sizes operating in the hospitality and out of home arena.
