Footprint Forum: Sustainability Benchmarking & Measurement in Corporate Services hosted by KPMG
January 14, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Following the inaugural Finance Footprint Forum one of the key conclusions was the need, and indeed desire, for sustainability related measurement and benchmarking.
Following consultation with various organisations, it is clear that the finance sector is crying out for a better picture of where the industry’s sustainability performance sits in comparison to other sectors; also how individual businesses compare to each other.
Footprint Forum: Sustainability Benchmarking & Measurement hosted by KPMG sets out to explore the feasibility of a Voluntary Agreement setting out a strategy and roadmap of achievable standards for the sector to work towards in terms of waste, energy and natural resource. In other sectors Voluntary Agreements have been highly successful and very impactful; delivering measurable and reportable results.
With Footprint’s experience in this field, the Footprint Forum is designed as an Early Adopters Group for financial and professional service businesses and their respective supply and value chains to begin to identify the implications and benefits of a Voluntary Agreement. We will be exploring simple, measurable, realistic targets and a collaborative approach to establish a base standard. We will be looking at ways to achieve collaboration between organisations; breaking down competitive barriers whilst avoiding disclosure of sensitive corporate data and contributing towards an industry wide benchmark. We will be looking at stakeholder engagement and how other sectors have maximised the reputational and PR implications of transparent and collaborative measurement and benchmarking.
The Forum will address some key questions which will help form a voluntary agreement.
- How could the Financial Services sector improve the measurement of performance and implement more sustainable business practices, with targets to deliver against over time?
- From this, how could London been seen as global leaders in this area?
- What would our workplaces look like if we did things differently and what would the benefits be to the environment as well as our staff?
- What are the benefits of working together on sustainability rather than going it alone?
The content of this event will initially explore how other sectors have successfully implemented Voluntary Agreements and the benefit derived. We will also be exploring how other sectors have implemented success measurement and reporting strategies.
We will then explore competitive barriers and lack of internal engagement faced by the sector and explore how these might be overcome.
Join us at the start of this journey and be part of the discussion - together we are stronger.
Output: A report taking all content, discussion and feedback into consideration. This will pave the way for a draft Voluntary Agreement.
