Downing Street recognition for Aramark’s charity efforts

ARAMARK'S Charitable partnership to provide clean drinking water to people in Africa has been recognised at an award presentation at 10 Downing Street.

The company has been recognised by the One Foundation, a charity whose vision is to work towards a world where everyone has access to a safe, clean and sustainable water supply.

 

The presentation, by Duncan Goose of the One Foundation, was followed by a meeting with Samantha Cameron, wife of Prime Minister the Rt Hon David Cameron, with representatives from Aramark.

 

Aramark received the award, called the ‘Marco Longari Award for Changing Lives’, for sustained support of the One Foundation. Aramark has sold the Foundation’s branded bottled water, One Water, at client sites since 2007. For every bottle sold, 10p goes to fund clean water projects for families in Africa, with projects including the development and installation of fresh water pumps in areas where water supplies are contaminated or inaccessible.

 

Last year, the number of bottles bought by Aramark customers passed the three million mark and, earlier this year, the number of Aramark sites selling One Water reached over 400. More than 90,000 people now have access to clean water pumps as a result of Aramark customers’ efforts.

 

Duncan Goose says: “The award is not simply presented to people who work with us, but to those who have understood our vision, made it their own and who have found ways to incorporate it into their businesses. It is not to do with size or scale of business, or donation, but to do with intent and desire to effect change and to do that together. Aramark continues to be an important and valued partner and it was right that they were invited to 10 Downing Street.”

 

Aramark was recognised alongside six other companies - Starbucks, Peros, Hawksmoor, The Co-operative Group, The World Duty Free Group and Type B Productions - at the Downing Street event.
