Ovolo Hotels will serve only vegetarian food across its restaurants and bars for the next 365 days.
The initiative, called “Year of the veg” and launched on world vegetarian day (October 1st), will see menus “refined”, with some sites opening kitchen gardens to grow produce.
A Facebook post claims it is the first hotel group to go completely vegetarian. Last year, the group opened Hong Kong’s first vegetarian hotel restaurant, Veda. Its Australian sites in Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney will also switch to 100% vegetarian offers.
“We want to be conscious about what we’re consuming and practice sustainability as much as we can because we believe this can have an enormous impact on the environment and humanity at large,” said Ovolo Group founder and CEO Girish Jhunjhnuwala.
