Local Sustainability Heroes Announced! Last day to vote…

We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the 2017 Footprint Awards Community Vote.

Part of the annual Footprint Awards programme, the Community Vote, sponsored by Nestlé Professional, asks the nation to vote for any local food outlet that they believe demonstrates commitment to sustainability and reducing negative impact on the environment.

The outlets below have been shortlisted and you are now invited to vote for the winner. All you have to do is click on the tab below the entry. Here you will find a little more information and even if you don't know the places in question you can find out more by following the link to their website.

The winner will be the recipient of the highest number of votes and will be announced at the Footprint Awards Dinner at RIBA on May 25th when the food industry meets to discover this year's sustainability champions and innovators.

Cross Lanes Organic Farm, Barnard Castle, County Durham

Cross Lanes comprises of an organic café-restaurant with a farm retail shop supporting local producers and a developing horticultural centre. Website 

Green Dragon Rare Breeds Farm & Eco Centre, Hogshaw, Buckinghamshire

A sustainably run visitor attraction and venue offering freshly made, seasonal food in the Eco Centre restaurant that’s supplied by local producers and from our own walled garden and orchard. Website

Maitreya Social, Bristol

Maitreya Social is a friendly, neighbourhood veggie and vegan restaurant in the heart of Easton. Established since 2001, Maitreya is Bristol’s vegetarian restaurant. 100% vegetarian and with plenty of vegan and gluten free options on our menus. Website 

The Pines Garden Tea Room, The Bay Trust, Dover, Kent

The Tea Room is supplied by our own organic veg plots and polytunnels with soft fruit, vegetables and salad crops. We also use award winning local suppliers. A small changing menu means we don’t store huge amounts of food wasting as little as possible. Website
